Risk & Financial Advisory

Gabriela is a second year Risk and Financial Advisory Consultant aligned with IT & Specialized Assurance based out of the New York City office. She supports clients with SOX readiness and compliance, IT risk assessments and auditing of several technologies. Her expertise lies in identity access management and access security controls, ensuring robust protection against cyber threats and unauthorized access.

Advisory Consultant

  • Prepare and review audit working papers to document audit procedures performed in assessing operating effectiveness of GITCs in accordance with PCAOB standards for client organizations.

  • Perform thorough risk assessments, identify access security control vulnerabilities, and provide recommendations to address deficiencies

  • Analyze cyber security policies, standards, and procedures in place with client management to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

  • Provide status updates to internal/external stakeholders on progress and identified deficiencies; Manage stakeholder relationships.

  • Collaborate with internal and external audit teams to facilitate smooth and efficient SOX IT audits, ensuring timely completion and adherence to engagement quality standards and expectations.

  • Perform PMO activities such as maintaining project plans, status dashboards, tracking of issues, provide team leadership on daily tasks.

Advisory Analyst

  • Utilized Deloitte tools and methodologies to perform detailed testing for evaluating the operating effectiveness of GITCs, focusing on access security (authentication, provisioning, deprovisioning, access reviews, privileged access), change management, job monitoring.

  • Inspect complex client audit evidence, which involves reading and analyzing code, scripts, and configuration settings.

  • Lead client walkthroughs to confirm control design understanding and obtain relevant control evidence for testing and documentation.

  • Prepare and document planning and concluding files for engagements.

Deloitte x ALPFA New York Liaison

Gabriela serves as the ALPFA New York x Deloitte liaison. In her role she manages a $15,000 budget that she tracks and reports on fund allocations, ensuring that every dollar is used effectively. Her role also involves setting and meeting yearly goals for the Deloitte-ALPFA New York partnership, which includes maintaining Deloitte presence at local and recruiting events, as well as increasing ALPFA memberships and board representation of New York Deloitte practitioners. Further, Gabriela is responsible of maintaining communication with the ALPFA New York Chapter to keep them updated on collaboration opportunities, lead monthly calls with the ALPFA New York Corporate Development

Hispanic-Latino & Allies Community

Gabriela actively supports the Risk & Financial Advisory (RFA) Hispanic-Latino strategy team that focuses on attracting, advancing, and retaining Deloitte's Hispanic-Latino professionals. She assisted the drafting of an improved version for the RFA Hispanic-Latino strategy. At a more local level, Gabriela plans and executes events for Deloitte's New York Hispanic-Latino professionals to raise awareness on the community and build a space for practitioners to share their cultures and be their authentic selves.

Outside of client work, Gabriela has taken her short time at Deloitte with great commitment to initiatives that she is passionate about and executes for as an active member and lead of DEI initiatives. Her efforts focus around advancing and retaining the Hispanic & Latino community at Deloitte.

Women in Cyber

Gabriela directly supports efforts to attract, develop and retain women in cyber professional talent at Deloitte by spearheading the Women in Cyber strategy at the national level. Through her involvement, she assists in promoting DE&I within Deloitte's Cyber & Strategic Risk practice as well as in the marketplace.

Recruiting Efforts

Gabriela is committed to giving back to her alma mater by continuously volunteering to represent Deloitte in information sessions and professional panels for Boston University students (Go Terriers!).

Further, Gabriela is actively involved with Deloitte's ALPFA recruiting efforts. She has been selected by the firm to attend the ALPFA National Convention on 2022 & 2023, as well as the 2023 ALPFA Northeast Regional Tech Summit to represent Deloitte and support onsite recruiting of students and experienced hires.

Director of Mentorship

Outside of her professional commitments, Gabriela passionately invests her time in volunteer work at the Association of Latino Professionals For America. Within this organization, she serves as the Director of Mentorship on the Board of Directors for the New York Chapter. Gabriela's dedication to mentorship stems from her profound acknowledgment of the pivotal role mentors have played in her own journey. Motivated by this gratitude, she has devoted long hours to launching and executing a professional mentorship program that aims to connect entry and mid-level young professionals with established professionals across diverse industries in the New York area, empowering them to cultivate essential skills, ignite curiosity, and instill confidence for personal and professional development.

This experience has been instrumental for Gabriela in honing her project management skills outside of her full-time job. In her position, she leads a team of 8 volunteers, managing various responsibilities that come with her directorship including managing corporate sponsor relationships, designing professional development workshops for mentors and mentees, managing the program budget, and presenting program updates and outcomes to leadership.

Gabriela was honored with the Rookie of the Year Award from ALPFA New York, as a testament to her outstanding performance her first year as Director.

Deloitte leadership have recognized Gabriela's role as a Director and her external involvement with ALPFA. Her leadership skills, service and dedication to promoting ALPFA's mission and values within the New York chapter earned her the Local Volunteer Excellence Award.
